DAY 30!!!!! - "30 in 30"

Day 30!
"Lunch in Provence"
Oil     8"x6"     $95.00

We had a wonderful lunch with a great bottle of wine
in this wee restaurant in a wee village in Provence, several years ago.

Lucie is delighted now that the "30 in 30" Challenge is over.....
she has a new "leash" on life (groan).

Stay tuned...........

DAYS 28 and 29 - "30 IN 30"

Day 28
"September Song"
Oil     6"x8"     $95.00

I called this "September Song" as the image I worked from was taken
in September.  My patio definitely doesn't look like this now.....just sayin'.

Day 29
"Rear Window"
Oil     8"x6"     $95.00

The photograph image used for this painting was taken in the South of France.
Much like the doors in Venice are green, the shutters in this part
of France are typically blue (the camera makes these appear
bluer than they really are on the painting).

Day 30 is here!  It is my plan to continue with, if not daily paintings, at least
to paint 3 or 4 each week, and use the time on the other days to
work on larger pieces.

Stay tuned......Day 30 coming up!

DAYS 26 AND 27 - "30 IN 30"

DAY 26
"Day in Paradise"
Oil     6"x8"     $95.00

I decided to paint Southern California on Days 26 and 27.
We are land-locked here in New Mexico, but I have visited there many times, and even
was a "California Girl" in San Diego for almost four years.
One of my favorite spots is Laguna Beach.......

Day 27
"Near Laguna Beach"
Oil     6"x8"     $95.00

We're on the countdown......

Stay tuned........

DAY 25 - "30 IN 30"

DAY 25
"Aguirre Springs"
Oil     6"x8"     $95.00

This is at a recreation area on the other side of the mountains from
my house.  It is a great place to picnic and hike, and close by.

I'm a bit behind on my posting, so will make this one short and sweet.

Stay tuned........

DAYS 23 AND 24 - "30 IN 30"

Day 23
"Paddy's Iris"
Oil     6"x8"     $95.00

My friend Paddy, the gardener, didn't share bulbs with me as she did with the sweet pea seeds, but when I was her neighbor, she shared flowers with me.  I miss that, and her.

Day 24
"Cruising New Mexico"
Oil     6"x8"     $95.00

Yes, this is different.  This is in response to Challenge #10 on a site I
participate with called Let's Paint New Mexico.
It was a bit challenging for a daily painting, but I'm killing two
birds with one stone (or painting, in this case).

Stay tuned.........

DAYS 21 AND 22 - "30 IN 30"

You're invited to take a short morning walk with me......

I wanted to share this video with you, because it relates to my Day 21 and
Day 22 paintings........

Day 21
"Week in Venice"
Oil     8"x6"

I was greeted each morning by this view across the canal from my room
in Venice.  Venice very typically has some version of green in
their doors.

Day 22
"Venice Green Door"
Oil     8"x6"

I seem to be in a door or courtyard rut here.  Time to move on
to another subject, although I love to paint unusual doors and windows.
My perception is that they are easy, until I'm into the work.  As you can
see, this old door was far from simple, both for the makers, and me!

Stay tuned for "Day 23"........

DAY 20 - "30 IN 30"

DAY 20
"Aging Gracefully"
Oil     8"x6"

This is from a photograph taken while on a wine-tasting tour in the region
around Florence, Italy.  The camera has turned the shaded areas
very blue.....not a good photo....but you get the picture.  I promise that
the photograph was taken before the wine was tasted!

We're now 2/3rd of the way thru the "30 in 30".  Boy, what an experience
it has been......a good, but busy one.

Stay tuned........

DAY 19 - "30 IN 30"

DAY 19
"Charlotte's Gate"
Oil     8"x6"

I guess I'm painting Spring because the weather the past two days has
been simply beautiful....sunny and balmy, compared to the past week.

I call this painting "Charlotte's Gate" because I painted a similar image on her
(Charlotte is my daughter) back patio gate when she lived here.  When she moved, we
removed the panel on which it was painted.  The last time I saw it, it was
on her kitchen wall.

Here is the image of her "gate" painting.  The gate was easier to paint!

Lucie is enjoying walking in the sunshine.....(sitting in the sunshine).

Stay tuned...........

DAY 18 (plus a repeat of Day 14) - "30 IN 30"

DAY 18
"Sweet Peas, Please"
Oil     8"x6"

My sweet pea seeds came from good friend Paddy.  She says to be successful
in growing them, you must plant them the day the first ball is
thrown out during the World Series.

I'm repeating (I hope) the image of "Mission Conception", the painting I did following
Calvin Liang.  I'm so sorry it didn't appear with the video on Day 14.......
This "wee" painting will go to Clark, Jim & Judy's new little boy.
His parents were married in the chapel here in San Antonio.

Day 19 is almost ready to post......

Stay tuned.......

DAYS 15, 16 AND 17 - "30 IN 30"

DAY 15
"Baby Bell"
Oil    8"x6"

DAY 16
"Day in Paradise"
Oil    6"x8"

This is in Taos......the entrance to a bed and breakfast.  Taos is
one of my favorite places to visit.

DAY 17

"Hilda"
Oil     8"x6"
Not for Sale

Hilda lives in my front courtyard.  She doesn't look quite like this right
now, but in the summer she's surrounded by pots of flowers.

I'm looking forward to the weekend.  The Marketing 101 online course
I'm currently taking doesn't post on the weekend.....yea!

Stay tuned.......

DAY 14 - "30 IN 30"

I'm aware that I'm a day or two behind in posting this on my blog,
but I wanted to share something special with you.  It's only
about 4-5 minutes long.....but I believe you'll see that it was well worth
the investment in time.

Vocals by Andrea Bocelli, paintings by artist Calvin Liang
I am in awe of the beauty of this artist's work.  I planned at one time to take a workshop
with him, but was unable to go.  This "30 in 30" has given me the opportunity
to study the beautiful subtle colors he uses in like values.
Nope.....I'm definitely not there, but I really enjoyed viewing his painting and attempting to work within his color and value range(see below):
"Mission Conception - San Antonio" (study)
6"x8"    Not for Sale
The reason I selected this particular image to work with is because I attended the wedding of a family member here a few years ago.  They now have a beautiful baby boy.....Clark.
This one's for you, Clark!

Stay tuned..........

DAYS 11, 12 AND 13 - "30 IN 30"

DAY 11
"Mountain Daisies"
Oil - 8"x6"
This came to me on an invitation to a wedding shower.  I'll give it to
the bride as a "very late" additional gift from me.  (This is the
Day 11 image I was unable to upload to the "30 In 30" blog.)

DAY 12
"Rooftops of San Miguel (Study)
Oil  - 6"x8"
A small section of the image of a painting I have in progress,
I thought doing a small study might spur me to finish the larger work.
Perhaps when the "30 in 30" is behind us.......

DAY 13
"Spring Show"
Oil - 6"x8"
This cactus on my back patio blooms like this, with lots of brother
and sister blooms, each spring.  Right now, however, it is hibernating out of
the cold in my garage (and not blooming!).

I'm looking forward to sharing my Day 14 (yesterday's) painting with you tomorrow.
It is something I've been wanting to do for some time......

Stay tuned.........

DAYS 8, 9, AND 10 - "30 IN 30"

Day 8
"This is New Mexico"
Oil    6"x8"

Day 9
"La Entrada"
Oil     6"x8"

Day 10
"San Miguel Courtyard
Oil     8"x6"

I've had a bit of trouble posting to the "30 in 30" blogsite the past few days,
but am definitely UP ON MY PAINTING SCHEDULE!  YEA!
I almost feel that it's easier to do the painting each day, than
it is to keep up with the postings.

I'm settling in to the routine, so I feel that I'm developing, at least for the time,
the discipline of getting into the studio and working.  It's also
presenting me with opportunities to try different supports.  You may
not be able to tell from the photo, but all three above paintings were done
on different types of canvas.  I definitely like the results of #8 and #9 over
#10, so we probably won't be using that canvas again.

Lucie and I couldn't go out for a walk yesterday.....it was cold and very windy and, as a result, she pouted all afternoon.  It's still quite cold today, but sunny,
so this will be a better day for both of us.

Stay tuned........

DAYS 5, 6 AND 7 - "30 IN 30"

Yep, I'm behind on posting these paintings to my blog.  I have,
however, posted to the "30 In 30" site daily, so these three images are there:

DAY 5
"Fall Day, Santa Fe"
Oil on Linen     6"x8"

DAY 6
"Ready to Plant"
Oil on Canvas     6"x8"

DAY 7 (yesterday's painting-we're posting one day behind)
"Misty Morning"
Oil on Canvas     6"x8"

Lucie says she is bored with this challenge.......
she says she can't believe I'm doing that!  (Me either, Lucie.)

Stay tuned.........

DAY 4 - 30 IN 30

"Prude Ranch"
Oil     6" x 8"

This is the road into Prude Ranch in far West Texas.  We have family
living there, so we visit there frequently.

I'm currently working on a new website to partner with this blog.
It is under construction, so I'll post the address as soon as
I have a bit more information on it.

Stay tuned......

DAYS 2 and 3 - 30 IN 30

Yesterday I added my Day 2 image to the "30 in 30" site, but my computer balked
when I attempted to post to my blog.  So.......
today I'm posting two images.

 "Jardin"
Oil on Linen   8"x6"
email me for information

This month and next, my art guild members will be studying
painting the figure.  Yesterday, we participated in an exercise in which we painted
from an art magazine image to warm up for the upcoming month-long challenge.
I practiced on this painting - not good, but I'm counting it as my piece
for Day 3.  I hope the results of my
work benefit from the next two months :-).

Lucie said to tell you that she's hiding out until the "30 Day Challenge" is over.

Stay tuned.......

"December Sunset"
Oil on Linen Panel   (unframed)
  6"x8"

This painting was done in response to the
"Let's Paint New Mexico" challenge #9, and appears on
